The Top 10 Most Expensive Painting in the World

Number 10: Portrait of Dr. Gachet by Vincent Van Gogh

Painted in 1890, Van Gogh’s Portrait of Dr.Gachet sold for million dollars in 1990 and makes it the 10th Most Expensive Painting in the World. Dr. Gachet was the personal physician of Van Gogh and he was also a painter himself. The painting is of Dr. Gachet sitting at a table, leaning on his right arm.

Number 9: La Reve by Pablo Picasso

The 9th Most Expensive Painting in the World is an oil painting by Pablo Picasso. The subject of his painting is his 22 yr old girlfriend (Picasso was 55 yr old). This vulgar and distorted vision of her sitting in an armchair sold for 6.9 million dollars.

Number 8: Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer by Gustav Klimt

The portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer painted by Gustav Klimt in 1907 comes in as the 8th Most Expensive Painting in the World having sold for 5 million dollars in 2006. The subject was a friend of the artist. It is painted with gold and oil on canvas. It is known as the last of Klimt’s golden phase.

Number 7: Woman III by Willem de Kooning

Woman III is one of a series of paintings by Willem de Kooning. It was sold for 7.5 million dollars in 2006. Before it was sold it was in a gallery in Iran, however, it was banned due to the depiction of nudity.

Number 6: Three Studies of Lucien Freud by Francis Bacon

The Three Studies of Lucien Freud by Francis Bacon is a trio of oil-on-canvas paintings. They are of a man sitting, presumably on a bed, with an abstract box surrounding him. Very abstract and distorted, it sold for an eye-watering 4 million dollars in 2013.

Number 5: No.5, 1948 by Jackson Pollack

David Martinez bought No.5 by Jackson Pollack from David Geffen for 3.8 million dollars in 2006. An interesting work of art in that it is a completely different painting from when it was 1st painted. The original was damaged during a move and subsequently Pollack repainted over the entire thing. This painting over a painting is the 5th Most Expensive Painting in the World.

Number 4: Les Femmes d’Algers by Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso’s signature style was called cubism and that’s what he employed when he painted Les Femmes d’ Algers in 1955. It sold in 2015 for 9.4 million dollars.

Number 3: No.6 by Mark Rothko

No.6 was purchased by Dmitri Rybolovlev for an eye-watering 6 million dollars. Mark Rothko was an Abstract Expressionist. The painting itself is just 3 stripes of color across canvas.

Number 2: The Card Players by Paul Cezanne

The State of Qatar is listed as the buyer of The Card Players by Paul Cezanne. It was purchased for nearly 0 million dollars. It is a painting of 2 men sitting at a leather covered table playing cards, one is smoking a cigar, and there is a bottle of whiskey on the table.

Number 1:

Painting its way into the #1 position is Paul Gauguin’s When Will You Marry? It was completed in 1892 and was sold in 2015 for a jaw-dropping 0 million dollars. It was a private sale and the buyer remains unknown. It’s a colorful piece with 2 young African-American girls sitting outside with very curious, questioning looks on their faces. When Will You Marry? is perhaps the question they’re pondering.

Time for the question of the day.

Who is your favorite artist and why? Do there painting values come anywhere close to the 0M like Paul Gauguin’s ‘When will you Marry?’ painting?

Luxury yacht (also superyacht, large yacht and mega yacht) is a very expensive, privately owned, professionally crewed sailing or motor yacht.
A luxury yacht over 24 metres (79 ft) is considered as a “superyacht”.[citation needed]
Christina O of Aristotle Onassis
This term began to appear at the beginning of the 20th century, when wealthy individuals constructed large private yachts for personal pleasure, such as Charles Henry Fletcher’s Jemima F. III, at 111 feet, the largest motor- powered yacht in the world in 1908.[1] More examples of early luxury motor yachts include the Cox & King yachts, Charles L. Seabury and Company’s yachts, M/Y (motor yacht) Christina O, and M/Y Savarona. Early luxury sailing yachts include America’s Cup classic J class racers such as Endeavour and Sir Thomas Lipton’s Shamrock.[citation needed].
A yacht /ˈjɒt/ is a recreational boat or ship. The term originates from the Dutch word jacht “hunt”. It was originally defined as a light fast sailing vessel used by the Dutch navy to pursue pirates and other transgressors around and into the shallow waters of the Low Countries. After its selection by Charles II of England as the vessel to carry him to England from the Netherlands for his restoration in 1660, it came to be used to mean a vessel used to convey important persons.
Modern use of the term designates two different classes of watercraft, sailing and power boats. Yachts differ from working ships mainly by their leisure purpose, and it was not until the rise of the steamboat and other types of powerboat that sailing vessels in general came to be perceived as luxury, or recreational vessels. Later the term came to encompass motor boats for primarily private pleasure purposes as well.[citation needed]

Yacht lengths generally range from 10 metres (33 ft) up to dozens of meters (hundreds of feet). A luxury craft smaller than 12 metres (39 ft) is more commonly called a cabin cruiser or simply a cruiser. A super yacht generally refers to any yacht (sail or power) above 24 m (79 ft) and a mega yacht generally refers to any yacht over 50 metres (164 ft). This size is small in relation to typical cruise liners and oil tankers.
Between 1997 and 2008 there was a massive growth in the number, size, and popularity of large private or super luxury yachts in the 24-to-70-metre (79 to 230 ft) size range. Luxury yachts, megayachts, or superyachts typically have no real home port as such, although a yacht must be registered in a port of the country where its flag state is registered. Popular flag state registrars for large yachts are Cayman Islands, Marshall Islands, Isle of Man, and the British Virgin Islands, among others. (Many times the yacht will have never been to these ports.) They are particularly bountiful in the Mediterranean Sea in summer and the Caribbean Sea in winter. Many can be chartered (rented) for sums of up to 1 million Euro for a week. Up to 1,500 large yachts may be available to charter in a season in the Mediterranean.[citation needed] The arrival of large commercial ships specially outfitted to take multiple large yachts across the Atlantic ocean has created a much larger charter market in the Caribbean than ever before.[citation needed] Yachts will dock in a port of choosing while the crew does maintenance work and waits for owners or guests to arrive. The vessels then will do short cruises with the owners and/or guests aboard. Typical destinations in Spain and the French and Italian Rivieras include Cannes, Antibes, St. Tropez, Monte Carlo, Portofino, Porto Cervo, Puerto Banús, Puerto Portals, and Palma, Majorca, although increasingly luxury yachts are cruising in more remote areas of the world. Antigua is one of the main ports in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean and hosts a Charter Show at the beginning of the winter season.
While the demand for new luxury yachts has slowed somewhat since 2009, 2011 has seen a small rebound with launches from many of the top yards. The 163.5 metres (536 ft) M/Y Eclipse, was built by Blohm + Voss for Russian businessman Roman Abramovich[2] and the 180 metres (590 ft) Azzam launched in 2013 are the largest private yachts in the world. Luxury boatbuilding and yacht charter companies are predominantly based in Western Europe and the United States but are also increasingly found in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and Eastern Europe.

Top 10 Most Expensive Places to Live

What are the most expensive cities in the world?
Subscribe to our channel:

If you’re human, you’ve probably found yourself fantasizing and dreaming about living someplace else around the world. We all dream about leaving our hometowns, hopping on a plane, and just starting over. How refreshing are dreams such as these? Unfortunately, picking up your life and moving isn’t always the wisest decision. For one, if you live someplace where the cost of living is relatively lower, then moving might be a rude awakening. When it comes to living in other places, you have to take the city’s economy into consideration. Can you find a job there that will support your lifestyle, let alone pay your rent? It’s starting to sound like you’re about to run into the same problems that you had in your old town.
But living in some of the most expensive places in the world isn’t all bad. In fact, most of these places are some of the coolest cities in the world. Take Paris, France for example. Yeah, you’re going to be spending a pretty euro on a few hundred feet of living space, but you’re also living in Paris. This city has such historical and artistic significance that all of your friends and family back home will be envious of your life. Unsurprisingly, there are quite a few European cities that are the most expensive in the world such as Copenhagen, Denmark, where the local lager will cost more than a fancy meal. There is also Zurich and Geneva, Switzerland, and Oslo, Norway. In cities such as these, not only do you have the tourism bringing in money to the towns, but also politics, which tends to jack up the local prices quite a bit.
If the European way of life isn’t your style, then perhaps Tokyo, Japan is an option. Granted, the cost of living in Tokyo is really high, but you’d also be living in the technology capital of the world. Tokyo always has something exciting going on in terms of tech, as well as anime, gaming, art, and more. Not to mention that Tokyo also has quite the historical significance! Just a plane ride away is also Singapore, which is possible the most expensive place to live in the world. Renting alone will cost you over 00, but you have a pretty good chance of finding a job that will support the lifestyle. In most cases, the cost of living will usually have a job market that will support you and help you be able to afford the extraordinary prices.
But if the Asian cities aren’t your thing, then heading down under to Australia will take you to not one, but two expensive cities; Sydney and Melbourne. These are the two biggest cities in Australia, as well as the most expensive. Granted, the rest of Australia is mainly desert, and the more you move inward, the cheaper it gets, and for good reason.
If you don’t believe us when we make these declarations, then check out the video and see what the indexes are for cost of living. It will both shock you, and perhaps even intrigue you to move forward with your relocation a new life, albeit an expensive one.

The Emirates Palace is a seven star luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Emirates Palace is located on 1.3 km of private beach and surrounded by 85 hectares of gardens, with 114 domes that are 80 meters high. It is a 30 minute drive from Abu Dhabi airport and 1.5 hours drive from Dubai airport.
The building was designed by architect, John Elliott RIBA, who was Senior Vice President at Wimberly, Allison, Tong and Goo, (WATG) an international firm specialising in Luxury Hotels. It opened in November 2005 but certain restaurants and spas did not open until 2006. The hotel was built by and is owned by the Abu Dhabi government, and is currently managed by the Kempinski Group.
The costs to build the hotel were 3.9 billion GBP or 11.02 billion AED or about 6 billion USD. The Emirates Palace occupies 850,000m² of floor space. Underground parking allows housing for 2,500 vehicles. There are two swimming pools and spas. The hotel has its own marina and helipad. The Emirates Palace is the second most expensive hotel ever built, only surpassed by Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
Room rates at Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace rose by more than a quarter last year as guest numbers topped 150,000. A 26 per cent rise in rates helped revenue per available room — the standard measure used by hotels — reach one of its highest levels since it opened in 2005, said the hotel manager Alexander Schneider.
“Despite the opening of many other luxury hotels and resorts in Abu Dhabi, Emirates Palace has continued to achieve a very high performance over the past years,” said Mr Schneider.
The hotel, meanwhile, hopes to raise its international profile further — as a backdrop for film productions. “Emirates Palace is the only venue in the region qualified to offer a unique backdrop for film shootings and to curate a movie premiere screening in its auditorium at the same time,” Mr Schneider added.
Abu Dhabi is expected to add as many as 6,000 new hotel rooms over the next three years according to CBRE Middle East, the property broker.
“There is still a lot of supply to come up but that also makes it far more affordable than Dubai and travellers from within the UAE will remain one of its key markets,” said Matthew Green, the head of research and consultancy at CBRE. The broker expects hotel occupancy in Abu Dhabi to rise from about 65 per cent in 2012 to about 70 per cent this year.
Emirates Palace is currently focusing on Chinese, Indian and Latin American markets as Etihad Airways funnels more travellers from those countries through the emirate. India is Abu Dhabi’s largest tourism market in terms of the number of guests.
Emirates Palace has also become a popular wedding venue for families from India, Russia and China, said Mr Schneider.
The capital’s flagship hotel is owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi, and is managed by the Geneva-based Kempinski Hotels.
Abu Dhabi hotel operators are benefiting from rising visitor numbers to the country.
In November, Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) reported Dh842 million in operating revenues, an increase of Dh93m during the first nine months of the year compared with the same period in 2012. “forbes rich list” “London luxury shopping” billionaire millionaire Monaco “super rich” “private jet” yacht entertainment “luxs report” us usa America uk London “Donald trump” Dubai elite executive arab ceo forbes Europe vip money lil wayne travel “5 star hotel “super car” bugatti Lamborghini Ferrari Porsche private jet 2014 2015 monaco luxury “get rich” gambling investment Beverly Hills Malibu Miami “positive thinking” “super yacht” “mega yacht” “playboy mansion” “luxury lifestyle” mansion “emirates palace”

Its hotel division, which includes internationally branded owned hotels and its own Al Diar brand, and the retail unit were the main profit generators. The latest additions to ADNH’s portfolio to come on stream this year — Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas, Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach and Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal — led the charge to top the hotel division’s revenues to Dh562m, compared with Dh468m during the same period in 2012.

Travel video about destination Cape Town Beach in South-Africa.
During the days of apartheid, the Muizenberg beach was off limits to blacks. They could only go to beaches abandoned by the whites : beaches that were too dangerous, or shark-infested… After apartheid, a white man decided to initiate poor black kids in surfing, to get them off drugs. One pupil even became world champion, to the delight of the whole community. Social rifts still exist, however. The Camps Bay beach is for the wealthiest, obviously mostly white, whereas the blacks tend to go to the Muizenberg Beach. In the evening, however, they all frequent the bars, restaurants and clubs along the Camp Bay promenade. As violence is still prevalent in South African society, the security measures are particularly tight here, to protect local citizens and visitors alike…
